Book a burger bed for Valentine’s
Feb 09 2016, Sean Fitzgerald
Looking for a unique Valentine’s Day idea? We’re pretty sure this one meats the requirements.
One Toronto restaurant is planning to give local sweethearts the chance to enjoy gourmet burgers in bed. A giant burger-shaped bed.
On Saturday and Sunday, you’ll be able to reserve the bed at South St. Burger Bar on King West for an hour. For $35, your romantic meal will include two burgers, a basket of onion rings and fries, two strawberry milkshakes and two burger-shaped cupcakes. The cupcakes kind of look like sliders to us, but rest assured – they’re desserts, not mini-burgers.
There are 10 spots available for the weekend special, and restaurant reps say that a few reservations have already been booked.
“We’re finding that girls are booking it for their boyfriends,” says Mac Gould, field consultant with South St. Burger. “It’s taking pressure off of the guys this year.”
Gould says he’s not sure what will become of the bed after this week – the owners of the Canadian restaurant chain may decide to use it in different locations, or they might auction it off. Wouldn’t this be the perfect addition to your man cave?
The bed, which is on display until Valentine’s Day weekend, was created by a movie prop house. You’ll be able to relax with a comfy sesame seed bun, a blanket of lettuce and pillows that look like pickles and tomatoes.
Reservations can be made through online service Pass The Table, which connects customers with unique dining experiences.
